Simpletennis.com is a site that dedicated to the lighter side of life. This site, after all, is about a game that we love and cherish. As such, we try to keep it light around here. That is not to say we should ignore the disaster that is unfolding before us…
As everybody knows, we again find ourselves in the shadow of great tragedy, as one of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded hit Japan. The tragedy was further compounded by the tsunami and nuclear emergency that followed. This one hits especially close to home with the large Asian population here on the West Coast.
This is why the Simpletennis.com donated to the Canadian Red Cross‘ effort for Japan. According to their charter, 100% all proceeds go towards Red Cross effort in North Eastern Japan. I encourage all our readers, friends and family to give generously to this effort.
Please keep Japan and her people in your prayers.
Sincerely,
Scott and Ed for the Simpletennis Team
]]>On February 27 it was reported Serena Williams was omitted to hospital with an emergency condition. We later learned it was a blot clot, or more specifically a pulmonary embolism. (You can read more on the Star by clicking the pic.)
We learned today that Serena Williams was again admitted to hospital due to complications to the earlier event, and that the clot had spread to her lungs, which required immediate treatment. The good news is that in a statement she says she’s now okay and recouping at home.
We at SimpleTennis Blog (STB) wish her all the best and a speedy recovery. I’m sure it won’t be long until she’s back on the court and crunching those backhands.

]]>Andy Roddick said it best when he said Milo was “the future of tennis”, alluding to his own comments when he won the US Open. Andy, still a class act… and a comedian too.
]]>Here’s a recent article from The Toronto Sun (click on the picture) I thought was rather interesting. Good tips!

I think Federer and Nadal are going to begin to slow down and new blood are going to set in I really think they are DUN!!. Just look at the Canadian Raonic coming on and Andy MURRAY and Novak ready to take over Should be interesting I wish McEnroe would make a serious comeback , stir things up , he is only 52 hey nothing to lose!!!

]]>Welcome to Simpletennis.com’s first blog post! I want to thank all of the members of our team for a great job last year, and I am looking for bigger and better things for the coming year!
To start things off let’s talk about Aussie Open. Who can forget last year’s thriller final Nadal v. Federer? If anything capsulate the state of men’s game was last year’s final. Are we looking at the respectable, and inevitable downward progression of the one of the most dominant players in the world, or does Federer have some fire still in him? Is Nadal, the heir apparent, ready stamp a clear message as he went down in history as the only Spaniard to ever win the Australian Open?
